Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:07/19/2023 11:52 AMCopy HTML Did you call Cindy yet? I am not calling someone with whom I have never spoken with at all. That is creepy. You should call her Joe she knows your number and you have had conversations with her. |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:08/10/2023 6:45 PMCopy HTML I am taking a short vacation for the next three days. I won't be posting much if at all. We are driving to Kentucky again to see my daughter, son-in-law, and two of my six grandsons, Duke and Graham. Graham was born on April 30th of this year. Graham is only 3 and a half months old now. Duke is turning four in two weeks. |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:08/22/2023 11:12 AMCopy HTML So, on October 17, 2023 and again on December 5, 2023 I am getting hip replacement surgery. Three years ago I received cortisone shots in each hip. The shots helped for about a year. Two years ago the same thing more cortisone shots that helped. A year ago another shot of cortisone in the hips which helped. However, this year I got the cortisone shots and they didn't help. Then my orthopedic doctor put me on Maloxicam which gave me relief for about 10 weeks and got me through my son's wedding in March of this year. But, soon after that the pain came back with a vengeance. Then my orthopedic guy sent me for a procedure where they inject a fluorescent fluid into each hip to pinpoint where to inject stronger cortisone. I had that done and the relief only lasted eight days. So, in the middle of July I went back to my doctor and after looking at x-rays from the last three years, and recent x-rays from two months ago, I am bone on bone in my hips. My femur is rubbing into the hip socket. It is bad in both hips so I am having them both done. They won't do both at the same time so they are scheduled as close together as possible. Additionally, my one son who is a radiologist looked at my x-rays and said dad it is unbelievable the deterioration of your hips since last year.
What sucks is I am a side sleeper and I cannot sleep on either side it hurts too much and wakes me up. After I cut my grass, which takes about two hours, I can barely walk because I am in such pain. I have been trying to train myself to sleep on my back, which is my only relief, but inevitably I turn to my side in my sleep and wake up in pain. It is a vicious cycle that repeats itself night after night. My sleep is horrible right now. My best sleep is on the reclining couch. |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:08/23/2023 2:33 AMCopy HTML Oh my goodness Mike, I'm sorry to hear this. I hope the double hip replacement is successful and will allow you to be pain free. Have you tried sleeping in a recliner chair, where it wouldn't be so easy to turn onto your side? Hoping for the best for you. |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:08/23/2023 12:00 PMCopy HTML Oh my goodness Mike, I'm sorry to hear this. I hope the double hip replacement is successful and will allow you to be pain free. Have you tried sleeping in a recliner chair, where it wouldn't be so easy to turn onto your side? Hoping for the best for you. Joe, Thank you for your concern. I could sleep in a recliner or my recliner couch but, my wife then complains I am not sleeping with her. Also, sometimes when I do sleep in those recliners my head falls to the side and I wake up with a sore neck. I have a high threshold of pain tolerance. I have had broken arms a few times that I have waited at least a week before I went to the doctor and got a cast. This hip problem though which was tolerable for the past three years is kicking my ass at this point. My sleep is terrible and getting up out of a chair or even simple walking around is painful. I have pain in my hips constantly it never goes away. I have learned to live with it but it has been getting progressively worse. I am tired of taking ibuprofen or Tylenol. I have stopped taking any of that because it cannot be good to take those everyday multiple times a day. I have always thought of myself as a very tough individual but this is definitely wearing me out. Oh... and after I get each hip I am not allowed to drive or bend down for three weeks or so. I am taking a class this coming Monday to learn what I have to do after the surgery. My wife is going with me. I do know the day of the surgery they will make me get up and walk. |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:08/24/2023 1:56 AMCopy HTML Some things are just unbearable Mike, no matter how high your pain threshold is. Doctors these days can practically perform miracles, so I'm sure you'll be better off with two new hips. I hope all goes well with the operation. Being as how you won't be able to bend over, I got you a little gift: |

Re:Where is everyone hiding? Date Posted:09/26/2023 1:19 AMCopy HTML Dave reported that he has been dealing with dizziness and hasn't been able to get online because of it. I'm hoping he'll be back soon. |
