Update on Alan

A month ago i complained to my Nurse specialist that i was still having difficulty swallowing this was passed up to my oncologist who organised an X-ray with swallowed contrast week before last.  I already had an appointment for a review in August and last week i got a letter for a CT scan with contrast of my Thorax, Abdomin and Pelvic areas  from which i assumed that there was nothing conclusive from the X-ray.  Today i got a call from my Nurse specialist asking if i was available for a review with the oncologist on Thursday at 12:15 which i have of course agreed to,  Now i am worried that the X-ray has shown something of concern,  i have also recieved an invite to an upper GI tract Cancer support group tomorrow. further worrying as i never got invited to this group when i was first diagnosed last year.  All i can say is please keep me in your prayers. for whatever is coming this week

Alan

On a more mundane note, I woke at 5:30 this morning to a bright sunny day with the birds signing in the garden so got up and watered all my beds and baskets before the sun got too hot then pottered doing some weeding and maintenance of garden features until 10:30 when i had a coffee break then off to the beach with helen and Tia our Labrador (she loves swimming river, Lake orr Sea)  after walking along the beach for a mile we headed back across the salt marsh towards the coast path  I was crossing a rivulet on the warch when my foot slipped and i ended up on my behind covered in smelly marsh mud with one shoe off in the mud so i slid around a bit and got that out only to get the other one stuck  lol my only hurt is my pride.  i recovered that shoe to the guided helen across the march on drier firmer ground then walked the 3/4 mile back to the car in my stocking feet my legs, shorts and Shoes  covered in mud drove to the Fish and chip shop Helen went in get a late lunch which we ate in the car before returning home to get a shower then to clean the cubical.

so life does carry on Lol

Life does carry on Alan, and that is a great attitude.  Hang onto the attitude, and never lose hope.  My very best friend is a cancer survivor.  She had been given only a 5 % chance of survival.  Her first bout was with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  It was a long, hard struggle, but she never let it stop her social activity.  She beat the Lymphoma, and we were all thrilled when she was declared 'in remission.'   Our euphoria was short-lived, when a few months later, she was diagnosed with a deadly form of Leukemia. Treatment required 30 days in the hospital for each treatment.  Those treatments were brutal, BUT SHE PULLED THROUGH, and that was more than 15 years ago.  She has been cancer free all through those years.  She still sees her oncologist a couple of times a year, for check up and blood work.  We always hold our breath until we get those welcome results.

There is Hope, Alan, so never lose your faith.  You've got to keep fighting with every ounce of fight you have left in you.  I know it is not easy, but it sure is worth it.  New treatments are being developed everyday.  I hope your miracle is in your very near future.   God bless.  My prayers are with you.

My prayers are with you, Alan.  My best friend has cancer, and he just continues on one day at a time.  He says that's all you can do besides having faith in the Lord.  Last Friday he flew to the M.D. Anderson cancer research hospital in Houston, TX, to see his doctor.  He had cryoablation a while back, and he says there's a strong possibility that they will do that again.  Hoping the best for you Alan.  LOL at falling in the muck!
